Obtaining the OSWP certification
I’m proud to share that I successfully earned my OSWP certification.
How to prepare
Here are some tips I recommend for anyone preparing for the OSWP exam:
- Gain a solid understanding of the 802.11 formats.
- Experiment with attacks by setting up a router and practicing them.
- Ensure your notes are accurate; incorrect notes can lead to getting stuck later.
- Explore machines beyond the OSWP course for more practice.
- Stick to the default terminal; avoid overcomplicating things with tools like tmux, as it can sometimes have bugs.
That’s pretty much it. Wi-Fi hacking is an exciting field because, instead of being entirely digital, it offers a sense of real-world engagement and interaction.
Some tips & tricks
After reviewing my notes, I realized that they weren’t organized in a way that would make my preparation more efficient. So, I reorganized everything, creating a separate note for each type of attack. This made it much easier to find the necessary commands when I needed them.
In addition to completing the OSWP course, I looked for a more hands-on approach to Wi-Fi hacking. That’s when I came across the best resource for Wi-Fi hacking: https://lab.wifichallenge.com/. This site provides a downloadable VM and offers various Wi-Fi hacking scenarios that you can exploit—making it an incredibly engaging and fun way to learn.
